Guided Trips:

The W. Jude Fly Rod Company also offers guided fly fishing trips. I am a NYS Licensed Guide. Guided trips can either be booked thru me or Vince Wilcox at Wiley's Flies. www.wileysflies.com/guided trips.

I offer guided trips on the following rivers:

Battenkill: The Battenkill gets it start in Vermont and flows westerly till it meets up with the Hudson River. 80% of the NY section holds trout, both Browns and Brookies, there is also a catch and release section that has a decent population of both stream born and stocked fish. The waters of the upper Battenkill usually stay cold thru the summer months offering decent fishing. The lower 20% of the river is good Small Mouth Bass fishing.

Deerfield River: The section that I guide on lies in the state of MA, below the Fife Brook Dam. During low water times, excellent dry fishing is available. When water releases are taking place it is time to get the boat out and float the river using streamers. The Deerfield holds Rainbow, Brown, and Brook Trout. The Rainbows seem to favor the lower water while the Browns (some very large ones) like it when the flows are up.

Farmington River: This river lies in CT and is a lovely tail-water with very consistent hatches and tons of fish. The state of CT stocks around 40,000 fish in this river annually. It is a great river to learn on, for both dry fly and nymphing.

West Branch of the Ausable: Most of my trout fishing trips involve this river. From pocket water to gentle flats this river is very diverse. Decent stocking numbers with some hold over fish make this a good destination river. Set in the scenic Adirondack Mtns and flowing past Whiteface Mtn, it is a beautiful place to fish.

Hudson River: While this is one of the most diverse rivers as far as species of fish is concerned, the primary focus here is the Small Mouth Bass and Pike fishing. Both wade and float trips are available for this river.

Mohawk River: Another gem of Small Mouth Bass fishing, this river is mostly fished from boat, but some wade fishing is available.

Private Water: I do have two different pieces of private water on two different rivers available on a limited basis, this water is only available to visiting out of the area anglers.

Float Trips:

We will be fishing out of Dave Scadden drift boats.  Seeing better and casting better means we catch more fish! Of course they also have seats when you want to sit and take a break, you know because you have been catching too many fish! In all seriousness we do catch more fish with the aid of our rafts and of course our goal is to catch more and bigger but at the end of the day these float trips allow us to cover miles of river and get away from the crowds. If you haven't had the chance to experience this style of fishing take the opportunity to do so and you will forever be a fan of float trips. What other way can you cover every inch of a seven mile stretch and fish water that no one else can?
**All gear is provided in the price and we offer spin or fly fishing on these trips. We have trips ranging in length from 2 1/2  to 3 hours, 4 to 5 hours and 7 to 8 eight hours depending on the anglers desired length. Full day trips include lunch, drinks and snacks. Four hour trips include snacks and drinks.
***Since we use various river systems for these trips in the area we are able to select the best one for the time of year and water conditions making it the best trip possible. There is a $25.00 fuel surcharge if the guides must travel over 25 miles one way. Gratuities are not included in the rates, but are very appreciated :o)
We offer trips for the beginner to seasoned angler. If you do not have your own gear, waders, rods, reels, ect, these can be provided. All flies and leaders are also included.
